W Radio, the first radio station to exist in Mexico and Latin America, born over 75 years ago, arrived to the Greater Los Angeles on February 6, 2006, on XETRA, now XEWW.

690AM, acquired by GLR, and the W Radio format, provides GLR the ideal opportunity to deliver the best of news/talk in Spanish to the number one market for Hispanic listeners, reaching 32% of the U.S. total Hispanic population and over 11 million Spanish speakers. GLR’s success in the US Hispanic market has been highlighted by Radio Caracol 1260AM in Miami, which enjoys the leading position in its core demographic.

W Radio 690AM features a news/talk/entertainment and sports format that has enjoyed immense popularity and extensive listener tune-in in Mexico and other Spanish speaking countries. The shows being aired on W Radio 690AM, include morning drive show “Hoy x Hoy” hosted by Gerardo Lorenz and Mirthala Salinas, “La Voz del Pueblo” with Juan Manuel Arenas, the health topic show “Cita con el Doctor” with Cancer Society President Dr. Elmer Huerta, sports show “Bazar Deportivo” and the best soccer games, including Chivas de Guadalajara and Chivas USA. All shows are produced at the studios in Burbank, geared to the Los Angeles and Southern California’s Hispanic community with a very local flavor.
