RADIO ADVERTISING

Hispanic radio listeners are especially receptive to advertising

Hispanics have a higher interest in radio advertisements over other media outlets according to the recent findings from Radio Ad Effectiveness Lab (RAEL) Personal Relevance Two: Radio's Receptive Ad Environment from the Radio Advertising Bureau. Other findings include:

·                     Radio's receptive ad environment is especially strong among Hispanics/Latinos (especially Spanish-Dominant Hispanics). Ethnic populations also showed some additional, unique emotional connections with their stations, indicating strong lifestyle bonds with formats targeting those populations.

·                     Hispanics were more likely than Whites to use radio to have a good time, while it nearly matched African Americans (42%) with use of radio to help overcome hardships.

·                     In terms of advertising-related responses, Spanish Dominant respondents were more likely to feel that the ads reached them personally (40%) and were fun (32%) and honest (33%) while Hispanic respondents in general and Whites were much lower on all the factors.  Black respondents were highest in thinking that ads reached the intended people (44%, followed by Spanish Dominant with 37%) and that they were concise (28%).
